The opening ceremony took place at the National Special Relic of Cua Ong Temple, Cua Ong ward, Quang Ninh city.
The festival aims to commemorate the merits of Hung Nhuong Dai Vuong Tran Quoc Tang and the gods worshiped at the relic.
Attending the opening ceremony were leaders of Cua Ong ward, representatives of agencies, units, businesses, armed forces, local people and tourists.
At the opening ceremony, ward leaders performed the ritual of drumming and gong beating to open the festival.
According to the program, the rituals include offering incense, worshiping Hung Nhuong Dai Vuong Tran Quoc Tang and human gods at Thuong Temple; offering incense to Saint Mau at Mau Temple and worshiping Trung Thien Long Mau.
Previously, on the morning of September 11, i.e., the 1st day of the Lunar New Year, the Organizing Committee held a ceremony to request the opening of the festival. Delegates, people, and tourists offered incense, flowers and offerings according to traditional rituals.
According to information from the Organizing Committee, the Cua Ong Temple Festival in August of the Binh Ngo year 2026 will take place until September 30.
The Cua Ong Temple Festival is held annually on two occasions, with the main festival on February 3-4 and August 3-4 of the lunar calendar. Specific activities are arranged according to the annual program.
In 2016, the Cua Ong Temple Festival was included in the National Intangible Cultural Heritage List. In 2017, Cua Ong Temple was ranked as a special national relic.
