According to the People's Committee of Luong Son district, at around 9:10 a.m. on August 30, the People's Committee of Cu Yen commune received a report that two students of the school were swept away by floodwaters on their way home from school through Bai Moi tunnel, Hop Phong hamlet to Phu Ngoc.
The two children were identified as Nguyen VL (born in 2012, residing in Go Me hamlet, Cu Yen commune), a 7th grade student, and Le Th.H (born in 2016, residing in Phu Ngoc hamlet, Cu Yen commune), a 3rd grade student.
After receiving the information, the authorities and the family actively searched. The bodies of the two children were found at noon and afternoon of the same day.
Then, at around 3:30 p.m. on August 31, a tragic drowning incident occurred at Dong Chanh Lake (in Nhuan Trach Commune, Luong Son District), resulting in the death of a male student. The victim was D.QT (born in 2009).
According to local authorities, despite the warning signs prohibiting swimming, the child still went in to play and swim, unfortunately drowning. At around 5:30 p.m. the same day, authorities found T. dead.
Most recently, on the afternoon of September 1, NTCN (born in 2021, residing in Song hamlet, Lien Son commune) followed his father to the pigsty and unfortunately fell into the pond behind the house. Although he was taken to the emergency room, he did not survive.
