Reasons why the Southern region is experiencing prolonged hot and sultry weather despite the appearance of transitional rain

The Southern region has seasonal rain, but hot sunshine is still maintained intensely, in many places above 37 degrees Celsius, the weather continues to be hot.

In recent days, the Southern region has experienced widespread hot weather, the East has places with intense hot weather with the highest temperature commonly 35-37 degrees Celsius, some places exceeding 37 degrees Celsius such as Bien Hoa (Dong Nai) 38 degrees Celsius, Ta Lai (Dong Nai) 37.4 degrees Celsius...

According to the Southern Hydrometeorological Station, from the end of April to the beginning of May, the South began to experience transitional rains. However, this is not yet the official rain of the rainy season, but only a transitional period from the dry season to the rainy season.

The characteristic of this period is that low-lying southwest winds are not operating stably, even in some places they have not appeared, so the amount of moisture from the sea has not been brought deep into the mainland to form strong moisture convergence systems. Therefore, the convective clouds created are not sustainable and have not developed strongly in both width and height.

Meanwhile, the subtropical high pressure remains stable, causing the morning to be less cloudy and sunny for a long time. The ground surface absorbs a large amount of solar radiation, causing temperatures to rise. In the afternoon, clouds develop more, moisture convergence from above forms and can cause localized thunderstorms. However, rains often occur in a short time, appearing on high temperatures, so the air is still quite stuffy.

In addition, weak winds also increase the feeling of heat due to poor air circulation. In urban centers with dense density of concrete, asphalt and high-rise buildings, heat absorbed from sunlight continues to radiate back into the environment, causing ambient air temperatures to rise higher.

Forecast for May 12-13, the South continues to have hot weather, the East has places with intense hot weather with the highest temperature commonly 35-37 degrees C, in some places above 37 degrees C. The relative lowest humidity is commonly from 50-55%. This hot spell is likely to last until around May 15-16.
