Many meaningful activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Ho Chi Minh City honored to bear Uncle Ho's name

Ho Chi Minh City - More than 5,000 people participate in walking to accompany many social security activities and civil works to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the city named after Uncle Ho.

On June 28, Ho Chi Minh City simultaneously organized many practical and meaningful activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Saigon - Gia Dinh City officially honored to be named after President Ho Chi Minh (July 2, 1976 - July 2, 2026), creating a vibrant atmosphere, spreading the spirit of solidarity and affection in the community.

In Saigon ward, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee organized a walking program with the theme "Heritage Journey - Moving Forward to the Future", attracting more than 5,000 officials, soldiers, athletes, youth union members and a large number of people to participate.

Mr. Nguyen Manh Cuong - Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee - emphasized that after half a century of being named after Uncle Ho, the city is proud of its outstanding development achievements.

Overcoming many difficulties and challenges, generations of people have joined hands to build Ho Chi Minh City into a dynamic, creative, pioneering city in innovation and full of affection.

According to Mr. Nguyen Manh Cuong, the walking program not only contributes to spreading the movement of physical training following the example of the great Uncle Ho, but is also an opportunity to connect the community, express gratitude to previous generations who sacrificed and contributed to preserving the historical values and heritage of the city.

Ho Chi Minh City leaders expect that from this event, the movement of exercising will continue to spread widely, contributing to building a healthy lifestyle in each family and community.

In Cho Quan ward, the "Cho Quan meaningful - For the community" festival in 2026 takes place with many practical social security activities.

The locality awarded funds to repair Great Solidarity houses, supported upgrading toilets for poor households; commended typical individuals in Front work; launched the "Pioneering Men, Promoting Gender Equality" Club and a youth team supporting administrative reform and digital transformation. On this occasion, the ward also provided regular sponsorship to 50 poor households and supported 4 means of livelihood.

In Binh Thanh ward, the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the ward coordinated with the Ward People's Committee and Quarter 9 to organize the inauguration of the "Great Unity Playground" project.

According to Ms. Cao Thi Hien - Vice Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Binh Thanh Ward, Chairwoman of the Women's Union of Binh Thanh Ward, the project aims to renovate the community living space, create a safe playground for children and meet the needs of people for fun and health training.

After a period of implementation, the units have general cleaned, cleared, collected and treated more than 500 kg of waste; planted 1,000 new green trees and flowers; installed 2 children's play equipment, repaired existing equipment; arranged 5 stone benches, painted, painted propaganda paintings, embellished the landscape and installed project signs.

The total implementation cost of 167 million VND was mobilized from socialized sources with the joint efforts of businesses, religious establishments, philanthropists and people.

In Phu Lam ward, the locality organized a groundbreaking ceremony to repair the house for Ms. Cao Yem's family, which is considered a near-poor household. The project is implemented from the ward's "For the Poor" Fund combined with socialized sources, with an estimated cost of about 200 million VND.

On the same day, the People's Committee, Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, Trade Union and socio-political organizations of Trung My Tay ward implemented the model "Giving social security books - Connecting the community". The locality awarded 3 voluntary social insurance books to freelance workers in difficult circumstances with a support period of 5 years; supported the repair of 2 houses for households with housing difficulties with a total cost of 100 million VND.

Trung My Tay ward also provided unexpected support to 7 households facing difficulties due to accidents and serious illnesses with a level of 5 million VND per case; presented 10 gifts, each worth 1 million VND, to policy families, poor households and households in difficult circumstances in the area.
