Currently, many canals in Binh Tan District, District 12 and Binh Chanh District (HCMC) are being renovated, dredged and the roads along the canals are being renovated, contributing to changing the appearance of suburban urban areas.
District 12 is urgently dredging, consolidating embankments, preventing flooding and building 4 roads along the canals. The total length of the 4 canals is more than 4.5 km, located in 3 wards of Thanh Loc, Thanh Xuan and Thoi An, with a total investment of 191 billion VND.
Mr. Tu Nguyen Duc Bang - Director of the Management Board of Traffic Construction Investment Projects in District 12 - said that the above 4 projects are being urgently constructed with items such as dredging, solidifying the banks of Tho Bot canal, Giao Khau canal, Ba Thon canal and reinforcing the embankments of Da Han canal and Mieu canal.
Mr. Nguyen Minh Chanh - Vice Chairman of District 12 People's Committee - said that the district has many canal systems that facilitate water drainage. However, the rapid urbanization in the district in recent times has caused these canals to become polluted and filled with sand and soil. Therefore, dredging and solidifying the canals is to improve environmental pollution and prevent flooding for residential areas in Thanh Loc, Thanh Xuan and Thoi An wards.
In Binh Tan district, the Ba Tieng canal renovation project is being urgently implemented by units, speeding up progress, bringing the project to completion on April 30, 2025.

This project has a length of 2,600 m, building roads combined with the installation of box culverts and the construction of open canals and roads on both sides of the canal.
The Ba Tieng Canal renovation project, once completed, will solve drainage problems for the three wards of An Lac, An Lac A and Binh Tri Dong B. At the same time, it will improve the environment, urban beautification and develop traffic for the area.
