The project to handle unsafe locations across Khau Coc Cha pass (Bao Lac district) was started in June 2023, with a total capital of 39 billion VND. Funding is allocated by the Ministry of Transport (MOT), with the Department of Transport of Cao Bang province as the investor.
In this renovation, items such as: expanding visibility, covering the entire road surface with asphalt concrete, adding a traffic safety system, building a technical check point before going down the pass; Reinforcing the shoulder and adding longitudinal grooves ensures the ability to operate, maintain the longevity of the foundation, road surface and traffic safety of the pass that will be renewed and repaired.
According to the original plan, the project was expected to be completed in December 2023, then postponed to the first quarter of 2024, but until now (third quarter of 2024) the project is still unfinished.
In mid-August 2024, at the project, contractors were still continuing to break rocks at some bends. About 1/2 of the total 15 floors of the pass have been paved with plastic carpet , and the sections where the asphalt carpet has been covered are also being erected.
Latest information from the investor, currently the work volume is almost completed, the unit is directing the contractor to strive to complete the project in August 2024. However, the construction has lasted for nearly 8 months and has caused people to encounter many troubles.
Around April 2024, when the construction contractor was blasting, rocks and dirt were thrown out, and motorcyclists sometimes had to carry their vehicles and could not pass through normally.
It is known that Khau Coc Cha Pass is located on National Highway 4A, 2.5km long, this is a unique road connecting Xuan Truong commune with Bao Lac district center.
Worth mentioning, in April 2024, a representative of the Department of Transport of Cao Bang province once affirmed: " The project will be completed on April 30 , there are currently not too many problems during implementation." But now, the time has entered August 2024, the project has still not been able to reach the finish line.
It is known that the work to deal with potentially unsafe locations through Khau Coc Cha Pass has been continuously inspected by the Chairman and Vice Chairman of Cao Bang Provincial People's Committee, urging progress so that the project can be completed soon. so that people can travel more conveniently.
According to information from the People's Committee of Bao Lac district, the locality once petitioned the People's Committee of Cao Bang province to direct units to speed up the construction progress, avoiding troubles caused by prolonged construction.
