On the afternoon of July 28, the Ministry of Public Security held a press conference to inform about the Final Round of the Military, Martial Arts and Sports Festival of the People's Police (CAND) in 2026. The CAND Sports Festival in 2026 is an activity towards celebrating the 80th Anniversary of the Traditional Day of the People's Security Forces and the 81st Anniversary of the Traditional Day of the People's Police. The Final Round takes place from July 29 to July 7 in Da Nang city with 65 competition events in 10 sports and military, martial arts.
Major General Le Hong Hiep, Deputy Director of the Department of Political Work (X03), Deputy Head of the Steering Committee of the Sports Festival emphasized:
This year's sports festival with the participation of 4,700 officers and soldiers and more than 2,000 officers and soldiers participating in performances at the opening ceremony. This is considered the largest scale of the final round ever in the People's Police force. Through research and surveys, we introduced very new and close to combat reality competition content. For example, swimming, we will swim on the Han River, go to open water to swim for combat. Shooting is no longer shooting during the day but fighting at night, and at the same time competing in stick fighting events.
The opening night will take place on August 1st at Bien Dong Park. The program includes military music parades, cavalry, martial arts performances, qigong, handling situations to protect VIPs and fireworks displays to welcome. The Organizing Committee also designed an open space from the training sessions for people and tourists to interact and take souvenir photos with the forces.
Senior Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Kim Trung, Deputy Director of Da Nang City Police affirmed: "Da Nang City Police has proactively coordinated with functional units of the Ministry of Public Security, departments and branches to advise the City People's Committee to issue a plan to coordinate the organization of the sports festival. Up to now, the City Police has been and is implementing tasks according to schedule. We are determined to closely coordinate with relevant units to successfully organize the Final Round, ensuring absolute security and safety, contributing to promoting the image of Da Nang city and spreading the beautiful image of the People's Police soldier".
Da Nang City Police have deployed forces to remotely divert traffic, ensure security and order, health, and fire prevention and fighting at all competition venues and accommodations of athlete delegations. The closing and award ceremony of the Sports Festival will take place on August 7.
