In the new school year 2024-2025, A Tuc High School (Huong Hoa district, Quang Tri province) still lacks infrastructure for teaching and learning.
Previously, in December 2022, the school was delighted when the 3-storey practical school building with 12 classrooms started construction and was expected to be completed and handed over in December 2023.
However, up to now, the project has only completed the rough construction of the first and second floors.
Mr. Nguyen Tuu - Principal of A Tuc High School said that the delay in handing over and putting the project into use greatly affected teaching and learning, and also made the school campus messy.
Also in the mountainous district of Huong Hoa, this new school year, the Ba Tang Primary and Secondary Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities held an opening ceremony that was not filled with joy, as the school's construction was halted while it was still under construction.
There are 608 students in this school, mostly children of ethnic minorities. Currently, the school is seriously lacking in subject classrooms, so the school has to arrange for students to study in the equipment room.
Meanwhile, the construction of the department and functional buildings from May 2023 to September 2023 has been temporarily suspended.
Investigation shows that both of the above projects are behind schedule due to lack of capital .
For example, the project of the subject and functional classrooms of Ba Tang Primary and Secondary Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities has a total investment of 6 billion VND, implemented by the Project Management Board for Investment, Construction and Land Fund Development of Huong Hoa District. Up to now, the project has only been allocated 50% of the capital, after disbursing all 3 billion VND, the project has been temporarily suspended.
Similarly, the practical school building project of A Tuc High School, invested by the Quang Tri Province Construction Investment Project Management Board, has not yet received sufficient funding, so construction has been temporarily suspended.
According to the leader of the Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee, due to the limited provincial budget, the capital allocation for some projects is not guaranteed, leading to a number of projects being forced to temporarily stop construction to avoid construction debt. Currently, the province is balancing and continuing to supplement the capital plan for 2024 to focus on completing the above projects.
