Belt 2
The two sections of Belt Road 2 through Thu Duc City include: the section from Phu Huu Bridge to Vo Nguyen Giap Street, 3.5 km long, and the section from Vo Nguyen Giap Street to Pham Van Dong Street, 2.8 km long.
The total investment for both sections is more than 13,800 billion VND, of which site clearance costs account for about 7,500 billion VND.
The project will clear 67 m of land, build parallel roads on both sides with each side 17 m wide, including 3 lanes. The middle part is reserved for future expansion. The total land area recovered is more than 61 ha, affecting about 1,166 cases.
Currently, Thu Duc City People's Committee is implementing compensation payments to households. The project is expected to start in the third quarter of 2025 and be completed in 2027.
When completed, Ring Road 2 will reduce traffic congestion, connect major port clusters such as Cat Lai, Phu Huu and Truong Tho, and promote urban development in the East of Ho Chi Minh City.
Nguyen Khoi Bridge and Road
The Nguyen Khoi Bridge and Road project has a total investment of more than VND3,700 billion, of which more than VND1,000 billion is for site clearance in District 4. The project will affect 148 cases, including 25 organizations and 123 households.
The project has a total length of nearly 5 km, of which the bridge section is about 2.5 km, 6.5 to 25.5 m wide; the road section is more than 2.3 km long, 26.5 to 61.5 m wide.
The main route starts from D1 Street (connecting Saigon University with Nguyen Van Linh Street and Him Lam residential area, District 7), crosses Te Canal and Ben Nghe Canal, and connects to Vo Van Kiet Street (District 1).
The project is expected to start construction in July 2025 and be completed in 2027.
Nguyen Khoi Bridge will help reduce traffic congestion in District 4, while sharing traffic pressure from District 7, District 8 and Nha Be District to the city center.
Xuyen Tam Canal Renovation
Xuyen Tam Canal, nearly 9 km long, flowing through Binh Thanh and Go Vap districts, is one of the most polluted canals in Ho Chi Minh City.
The Xuyen Tam Canal renovation project has a total investment of more than 17,200 billion VND, of which compensation and site clearance costs are about 14,000 billion VND, affecting 2,215 cases.
The project will dredge the canal to a depth of 3.5 m, widen the canal to 20-30 m and build a synchronous wastewater collection system. On both sides of the canal there will be a 6 m wide road with a 3-4 m wide sidewalk, along with a park and trees.
According to the plan, the XL-03 package (section from Luong Ngoc Quyen Street to Vam Thuat River) through Go Vap district will start construction in March 2025.
Package XL-01 (section from Nhieu Loc - Thi Nghe canal to Bui Dinh Tuy bridge) and package XL-02 (section from Bui Dinh Tuy bridge to Luong Ngoc Quyen street), including branches of Binh Loi, Binh Trieu and Cau Son canals through Binh Thanh district, will start construction before April 30, 2025.
The entire Xuyen Tam Canal renovation project is expected to be completed in 2028, helping to improve the environment, prevent pollution and upgrade the urban appearance of the area.
Renovation of the North bank of the Doi Canal
The project to build infrastructure and improve the environment of the North bank of Doi Canal (District 8) has a total investment of more than 7,400 billion VND, of which compensation costs account for more than 6,000 billion VND.
The project will affect 1,633 households, of which 1,019 houses will have to be cleared.
The project includes construction of 4.3 km of embankment, dredging of the canal bed, expansion of roads along the canal bank, construction of a new Nguyen Duy extension road and Hiep An 2 bridge. The project also includes drainage and lighting systems and a passenger wharf along the canal.
Ho Chi Minh City plans to start the project in the third quarter of 2025 and complete it in 2028, contributing to improving the living environment, enhancing infrastructure quality and creating a landscape highlight for District 8.
