Recently, voters of Binh Giang commune, Hon Dat district have repeatedly requested Kien Giang Electricity to extend the national grid to two residential areas without electricity in Giong Ke hamlet, including: Binh Giang 1 Canal, about 3.4km long (from Don Dong Canal to National Defense Dike) and Don Dong Canal, about 5km long (from T6 to T5).
On December 30, at the 31st session (regular year-end session), the People's Council of Kien Giang province presented a report on monitoring the results of the Kien Giang Provincial People's Committee's handling of voters' petitions.
According to the Provincial People's Committee, this is a recommendation under the authority of the central ministries and branches. Through the actual survey of the electricity sector, the canal routes according to the above recommendation have a large investment rate (over 30 million VND/household). Accordingly, the Binh Giang 1 Canal route with a total length of about 3.4km (from Don Dong Canal to National Defense Dyke), has about 18 households living in a non-concentrated area, the investment rate is very large, over 92 million VND/household. The Don Dong Canal route with a total length of about 5km (from T6 to T5 route), has about 49 households, the investment rate is over 41 million VND/household. Due to the limited capital of the electricity sector, it has not been possible to arrange capital to invest in developing the power grid according to the recommendation.
The Provincial People's Committee also said that when the next phase of the Rural, Mountainous and Island Electricity Supply Program according to the National Power Development Plan for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050, is implemented, the Provincial People's Committee will direct the Department of Industry and Trade to advise on implementation, meeting the expectations of the people and voters.
