On November 23, informing Lao Dong, Ms. Hoang Thi Vuong - Head of the Department of Culture and Information of Sa Pa town confirmed that in the morning of the same day, ice appeared on Fansipan peak.
According to Ms. Vuong, at the top of Fansipan, due to the temperature dropping to about 2 degrees Celsius, a thin layer of ice appeared.
Ms. Pham Thi Quynh (tourist) said that this was the first time she saw snow and ice on the mountain top so she was extremely excited.
Not only Ms. Quynh but many other people also enjoy traveling and experiencing cold weather.
Weather experts explain that ice appeared on Fansipan peak because the sky was clear and the temperature was low. Water vapor and dew on the surface will condense into ice when exposed to low temperatures.
Located at an altitude of 3,143m, Fansipan peak often starts to get cold from November to February of the following year, accompanied by many long cold spells, temperatures even dropping below 0 degrees Celsius and frost appearing. This is considered one of the most special and attractive experiences for tourists when coming to Sapa in winter.
