Accordingly, this lawsuit was filed by a group of customers in the US who are using Mazda 6 cars to the California Supreme Court on September 3. They accused this car company of burns due to improperly operating heated seats. Some people even suffered serious injuries and scars due to using heated seats on their Mazda 6 cars.
Most of the customer lawsuits claim that Mazda has known about this problem for years but deliberately "ignored" it and did not warn consumers about the risk of burns.
“Mazda has put thousands of Californians, including the plaintiffs, at risk by knowingly selling defective vehicles that pose serious safety risks and are worth less than what was advertised,” said Kristine D., a customer.
In addition, Mazda was accused of "deceiving customers" by continuing to promote and market the seat heating feature, despite knowing that this defect could cause harm to users. The plaintiff said that if she had known about this Mazda 6 feature defect, she would not have purchased the car or paid a lower price.
The plaintiffs are now asking for a jury trial and for Mazda to be held liable on multiple counts, including unfair competition under the California Business and Professions Code.
Those behind the lawsuit are also seeking damages from the world-famous automaker, including damages for serious injury resulting in disability, physical impairment, mental anguish, and medical conditions and physical defects.
In addition, customers also forced Mazda to compensate for other damages such as "loss of the ability to enjoy life in the past and future" related to the defect of the feature commonly used in this cold season.
It is known that the D-size sedan - Mazda 6 was officially launched in 2002. Although it is considered a good product, in the North American market, this Japanese brand's car model has quite low sales and cannot compete with other compatriots such as Toyota Camry or Honda Accord.
