HCMC - The ceremony to announce the establishment of the new HCMC after the merger of Binh Duong and Ba Ria - Vung Tau will take place at 8:00 a.m. on June 30 at the Ho Chi Minh City Police Academy.

According to the press release issued by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, the announcement ceremony is a key event in the series of activities to celebrate the 327th anniversary of the formation and development of Saigon - Cho Lon - Gia Dinh - Ho Chi Minh City (1698 - 2025), 49 years of the city named after President Ho Chi Minh (1976 - 2025), and at the same time marked a new journey when Ho Chi Minh City merged with the two provinces of Binh Duong and Ba Ria - Vung Tau to become a super urban area.

The ceremony to announce the resolutions and decisions of the Central and local governments on the arrangement of provincial and commune-level administrative units and the establishment of the new Ho Chi Minh City will take place at 8:00 a.m. on June 30 at the Ho Chi Minh City Police Academy.

Attending the ceremony was a central working delegation with leaders of ministries, branches, the two provinces of Ba Ria - Vung Tau, Binh Duong and Ho Chi Minh City. The program is broadcast live at the Ho Chi Minh City bridge, connecting online to all 168 communes, wards and special zones.

At the ceremony, the Central Committee will announce resolutions and decisions on the termination of district-level activities; establishment of communes, wards, and special zones; establishment and appointment of Party committees, authorities, the new Vietnam Fatherland Front of Ho Chi Minh City and affiliated administrative units.

After the merger, the new Ho Chi Minh City will keep its name, with an area of over 6,772 km2, a population of over 14 million people, including 168 commune-level administrative units, including 113 wards, 54 communes and 1 special administrative area.

This is a political - administrative event of special significance, marking an important change in the organization of the apparatus and the development of urban space in Ho Chi Minh City after the arrangement of administrative units.

According to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, from June 28 to July 1, a series of cultural - sports - artistic events will be held to celebrate the city's important milestone.

This morning (September 28), at the intersection of Nguyen Hue and Le Loi streets (District 1), a cooking competition for 100 typical families took place - an activity within the framework of "Happy Family Day". On the same evening, Ho Chi Minh City held a ceremony to honor exemplary cultural families - happiness, to spread positive values in building family life.

Closing the series of events, on July 1, Ho Chi Minh City will hold a ceremony to announce and award the 4th Ho Chi Minh City Creative Awards - 2025.
