In recent days, many roads in Hanoi such as Ring Road 1, Diplomatic Corps Road, Hoang Quoc Viet... have been started construction.
Along these roads, traffic participants often encounter construction site signs, narrow road warning signs or triangular dangerous signs.
Understanding the correct meaning and complying with traffic signs not only helps ensure safety but also avoids being penalized according to regulations.
According to the National Technical Regulation on road signs QCVN, triangular traffic signs belong to the group of dangerous and warning signs.
This type of sign has red trim, yellow background, black drawings, and is installed in areas with potential traffic unsafety risks to warn vehicle operators in advance.
At construction sites, warning signs are often placed at a suitable distance from dangerous locations so that drivers have time to observe, reduce speed and proactively handle situations.
According to regulations, the scope of validity of the warning sign applies on the lane in the same direction of traffic.
One of the most common signs currently is a construction site sign. This sign informs that there is construction, road repair or infrastructure works in front.
When encountering signs, vehicle drivers need to slow down, carefully observe the traffic situation, comply with the instructions of functional forces and temporary instruction signs arranged at the construction site.
In addition, at many projects under construction in Hanoi, there are also narrowed road signs. This type of sign indicates that the road surface in front is narrowed on one or both sides due to construction.
In this case, the driver needs to actively reduce speed, maintain a safe distance from the car in front, do not change lanes suddenly and yield according to regulations to avoid collisions.
Traffic experts believe that when passing through the construction site area, vehicle operators need to pay special attention to some principles such as not overtaking vehicles in places with limited visibility, not using phones while driving, complying with the maximum speed allowed and always being ready to handle unexpected situations caused by construction vehicles or construction materials that may appear on the road surface.
In addition to safety factors, non-compliance with traffic sign instructions may also be subject to administrative penalties.
According to Decree 168/2024/ND-CP, car drivers who do not comply with the orders and instructions of traffic signs or road markings may be fined from 400,000 VND to 600,000 VND. In case the violation causes a traffic accident, the fine increases from 20 million VND to 22 million VND.
For motorbike drivers, the fine for the act of not complying with the instructions of traffic signs ranges from 200,000 VND to 400,000 VND. If causing a traffic accident, the fine can be from 10 million VND to 14 million VND.
In the context that Hanoi is promoting investment in transportation and urban infrastructure projects, the appearance of many construction sites is inevitable.
Therefore, each traffic participant needs to proactively observe and strictly comply with the sign system and instructions at the construction site.
This is not only a legal responsibility but also an important solution to protect the safety of oneself and those involved in traffic.
