Electric vehicles maintain impressive growth momentum

Despite fluctuations in the global economy, the electric vehicle market will still maintain impressive growth momentum in 2025, affirming its pioneering role in the green transformation process of the transportation industry.

General global trend

According to statistics, from January to the end of November 2025, about 18.5 million electric vehicles were sold globally, an increase of 21% over the same period in 2024. Europe continues to play a leading role in the world electric vehicle market. In November alone, electric vehicle sales in this area increased by 36% compared to the same period last year. In the first 11 months, Europe consumed about 3.8 million electric vehicles, up 33%. The breakthrough comes from the fact that many countries have restarted or adjusted support policies, while the market has welcomed many new car models in popular segments.

Some markets that have had sharp declines have recorded clear signs of recovery. In France, electric vehicle sales increased by 1% in November after many months of stagnation. In Italy, the market set a new record with nearly 25,000 electric vehicles sold in a month, thanks to the new incentive package of the Government. These figures show the important role of policies and product diversity in driving consumer demand.

Not only in Europe, the trend of electrification of means of transport is also spreading in many Asian countries. Major cities are increasingly tightening emission standards, while investing heavily in charging infrastructure. This creates conditions for electric vehicles to expand their market share, especially in the context of fossil fuel prices still having potential risks.

In Vietnam, electric vehicles also recorded a strong progress in 2025, becoming one of the most dynamic markets in the region. The big contribution to this picture is VinFast, a Vietnamese car company that continuously establishes new sales milestones.

According to the announcement, in November 2025, VinFast delivered 23,186 electric cars to customers. This is the company's highest ever, bringing the total accumulated sales since the beginning of the year to 147,450 vehicles. This result helps VinFast continue to maintain its leading position in the domestic electric car market, while contributing significantly to the goal of doubling global sales compared to 2024.

The Green line is the main driver for the November sales record. The Limo Green model alone reached 9,642 vehicles, the highest level that a single model has recorded in the Vietnamese market in a month. After only 4 months of sales, Limo Green has achieved a total accumulated sales of 16,146 vehicles.

The appeal of Limo Green comes from its spacious seven-seat configuration, stable operation, and low cost of use. This model also enjoys a series of incentives such as support for gasoline collection and exchange of electricity, exemption of registration fees for electric vehicles according to the Government's policy, and free battery charging at public charging stations. These factors help Limo Green quickly become the most popular multi-purpose car in the segment.

In addition, VF 3, VF 5, VF 6, VF 7 models continue to be in the best-selling group of each segment. In November, VF 3 achieved sales of 4,655 vehicles, VF 5 achieved 3,072 vehicles, VF 6 achieved 2,801 vehicles, VF 7 achieved 1,225 vehicles. Accumulated from the beginning of the year, VF 3 leads the entire market with 40,660 vehicles, VF 5 reaches 38,478 vehicles, not including more than 12,000 commercial service vehicles. The VF 6, VF 7, VF 8, VF 9 models are also leading or in the top group in the B-SUV, C-SUV, D-SUV, E-SUV segments.

user experience, a decisive factor for sustainable growth

Behind the growth figures is a clear change in the experience of electric vehicle users. If in the past, the fear of travel distance, battery durability, and charging infrastructure was quite common, many barriers have now been removed.

In practice, the operating cost of electric vehicles is significantly lower than that of vehicles using internal combustion engines. Users in large cities highly appreciate the ability to save fuel costs, simple maintenance, and operate smoothly. For popular electric vehicles, the monthly usage cost is only partially equal to that of gasoline vehicles in the same segment.

The rapid development of charging infrastructure also contributes to improving the experience. The network of public charging stations is increasingly widespread, from residential areas, commercial centers to highways. The free charging in the initial stage helps users feel more secure when switching to electric vehicles.

In addition to economic factors, technology experience is also a big plus. New electric vehicle models are equipped with many features such as driving assistance, smart connectivity, and remote software updates. This creates a modern feeling, different from traditional cars.

In that context, electric vehicles are not only a means of transportation but also become a symbol of a green, sustainable lifestyle. With the current growth momentum, along with continuous improvements in products and user experience, electric vehicles are expected to continue to play a pioneering role, leading the Vietnamese and global automobile market in the coming years.
