On August 10, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Khanh - Deputy Head of the Economic, Infrastructure and Urban Department of Kim Tra ward (Hue City) said that the dismantling, relocation of assets and handover of land at the Tunnel Brick Factory of Thua Thien Hue Tunnel Brick Joint Stock Company No. 1 has been completed after the reflection of Lao Dong Newspaper.
Previously, on July 30, relevant units made a record of land handover on the ground at the enterprise's land at No. 56 Ly Nhan Tong, Kim Tra ward, Hue city.
According to the minutes, the handed over land area has a total area of 31,349.9m2, equivalent to more than 3.1ha. The handover party is Thua Thien Hue Tunnel Brick Joint Stock Company No. 1, the receiving party is the Construction Investment Project Management Board of Area 2, with the witness of Kim Tra Ward People's Committee.
Through actual inspection, the entire architecture, old brick kilns, factory system and production facilities have been completely dismantled. Machinery, equipment, production lines, transport vehicles and raw materials have also been moved out of the factory premises.
The parties confirmed that Tuynel Brick Joint Stock Company No. 1 Thua Thien Hue has completed the obligation to dismantle, relocate assets and return the clean ground within a scope of more than 31,349m2 belonging to the State's land fund, meeting the conditions for handover to management agencies.
After receiving it, the Construction Investment Project Management Board of Area 2 coordinated with Kim Tra Ward People's Committee to manage the land area, prevent encroachment and develop an effective exploitation plan according to regulations.
Previously, the enterprise was required to complete the handover of the site before June 30, 2026, but was delayed. At that time, the enterprise said it had difficulty finding a place to gather the remaining materials and assets after stopping operations.
Opening up new opportunities for more than 3ha of clean land
According to Mr. Nguyen Xuan Khanh, after the land area is received and brought to management, the local government will coordinate with relevant units to develop a plan for using and exploiting the land fund in accordance with the plan.
One of the directions being considered is to call on businesses to lease land for commercial and service purposes, thereby effectively exploiting the land area, avoiding abandonment or encroachment" - Mr. Khanh informed.
These days, passing by here, I feel completely different from before. No longer the scene of trucks entering and leaving in droves, smoke and dust are no longer the same as before. This large land area, if planned and used for appropriate commercial and service activities, will be both clean and beautiful, and create more value for the area" - Mr. Nguyen Hiep - a resident shared.
Since the beginning of 2026, Lao Dong Newspaper has had a series of articles reflecting the environmental pollution situation at the Tuynel brick factory at 56 Ly Nhan Tong. The factory area at that time was degraded, the kiln was old, many materials and production scrap were gathered outdoors, posing a potential risk of dust emission, affecting residential areas.
The factory was required to stop operating from 2021 due to the expiration of the land lease term and no longer in accordance with the plan. However, by the end of 2025, production activities would continue.
After the reflection of Lao Dong Newspaper, local authorities and functional agencies repeatedly inspected and requested the enterprise to terminate operations, dismantle works, and relocate assets.
