The epidemic is complicated
The Center for Disease Control (CDC) of Dak Lak province said that at the time of changing seasons, many infectious diseases such as hand, foot and mouth disease, measles, dengue fever... in the province are still complicated.
Statistics from the beginning of the year until now show that the whole Dak Lak province has recorded 5,717 cases of dengue fever, 3 deaths; 705 cases of hand, foot and mouth disease and 417 cases of measles. For example, patient N.T.T (born in 1976), residing in Cu Pong commune, Krong Buk district, Dak Lak province, contracted dengue fever. On October 9, the patient showed symptoms of continuous high fever and fatigue. At home, the patient took medicine of unknown type, but the disease did not improve.
On October 10, the patient went to a medical facility for examination and was prescribed medication to monitor himself at home. On October 13, the patient was very tired so his family took him to Thien Hanh General Hospital for examination and treatment. At 8:00 p.m. on October 14, the patient was transferred to the Central Highlands General Hospital for further treatment with a diagnosis of dengue shock syndrome. On October 16, the patient's condition worsened and he died.
According to research, in recent years, dengue fever has changed, no longer developing cyclically but increasing steadily every year, especially at the end of the year.
Another reality is that in the face of the complicated developments of infectious diseases, many people are still subjective, treating themselves at home and unfortunately dying after becoming seriously ill. Local authorities have not kept close tabs on the area and are subjective about the outbreaks. Some places have not been proactive in promoting and disseminating to the people the harm and danger of infectious diseases during the changing seasons.
Focus resources on disease prevention and control
Mr. Hoang Hai Phuc - Director of Dak Lak Province Center for Disease Control said that the unit has advised the Dak Lak Department of Health to issue recommendations and instructions for people to prevent infectious diseases, including dengue fever.
Agencies, organizations and people in localities proactively participate in implementing disease prevention and control measures, following the principle of being proactive early and from a distance. People need to seek information and follow recommendations on ensuring food safety and environmental hygiene from health agencies and authorities.
According to the leader of the Cu M'Gar District Medical Center, to prevent and combat dengue fever, the unit has deployed many different plans to control and prevent it from spreading widely. Accordingly, the medical force coordinated with the People's Committees of communes and towns to organize training on dengue fever prevention and control for members of the steering committee, village self-management committee, residential groups, school health workers, etc.
In some areas, authorities have organized disease prevention and control propaganda for people in many forms. For example, organizing meetings, implementing vaccination work and communicating directly to households...
At the same time, the Dak Lak Provincial Department of Health has advised the Provincial People's Committee to promptly issue a plan to implement disease prevention and control activities. At the same time, it has directed units in the sector to effectively carry out professional activities in disease prevention and control. In particular, hospitals must ensure that isolation areas have enough beds, medicines, infusions, equipment, and human resources ready to receive, isolate, and treat patients; and ensure adequate equipment, supplies, chemicals, medicines, etc. for disease prevention and control.
