Hung Yen - Preliminary conclusion of the Provincial Department of Food Safety and Hygiene on the case of workers suspected of food poisoning.

On August 12, a representative of the Department of Food Safety and Hygiene of Hung Yen province said that the unit had just issued a quick report on the investigation and verification of information about suspected food poisoning at the Toyoda Gosei Company Limited Branch (address: Ai Quoc commune, Hung Yen province).

According to the report, on the afternoon of August 7-8, 29 people, workers at Toyoda Gosei Company Limited Branch, came to Tien Hai General Hospital for examination and treatment (Ai Quoc Commune) with symptoms of abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, frequent bowel movements, and loose stools.

All cases are related to the lunch on August 7 at the company. The menu includes: lemon leaf roasted chicken, fatty spring rolls, toasted tofu, pickled cabbage, stewed squash soup with bones, beans. The dishes are prepared by Sao Viet Food and Tourism Joint Stock Company and the beverages are provided by NGK Thanh Cong Tien Hai Company Limited.

Up to now, 29 workers have been discharged from the hospital.

According to the reporter of Lao Dong Newspaper, in addition to the workers who went to Tien Hai General Hospital for emergency care, there were more than 30 workers who also showed signs and were examined in the company's medical room.

The report added that the preliminary conclusion was that the meal that caused the poisoning was the lunch on August 7 (excluding drinking water). The cause of food poisoning is suspected to be microorganisms and food. The cause of food poisoning has not been determined.

The Food Safety and Hygiene Department of Hung Yen province requires Sao Viet Food and Tourism Joint Stock Company and NGK Thanh Cong Tien Hai Company Limited to strictly comply with legal regulations on food safety.

Requesting Sao Viet Food and Tourism Joint Stock Company to stop providing meals at the collective kitchen of Toyoda Gosei Company Limited Branch without being granted a certificate of food safety eligibility.

In addition, while waiting for the test results and drinking water samples, the Toyoda Gosei Company Limited Branch is required to temporarily stop using bottled drinking water of NGK Thanh Cong Tien Hai Company Limited, and have a plan to use drinking water for workers in the most suitable way.

At the same time, it is recommended that NGK Thanh Cong Tien Hai Company Limited review the entire production process, focus on the quality of water sources and hygiene of the entire production area, clean water containers to ensure the quality of bottled drinking water is safe to reach users, etc.

Toyoda Gosei Company Limited Branch coordinated with Tien Hai Medical Center to disinfect the processing area, dining room, meal division area and the area around the company's collective kitchen.
