The Office of the Investigation Police Agency of Da Nang City Police on July 20 said that it had issued a decision to prosecute the case, prosecute the defendant and execute an arrest warrant for Nguyen Thi Thanh Thao (born 1978, residing in Son Tra ward) to investigate the act of "Fraudulent appropriation of property".
According to the investigation results, in 2018 and 2019, despite borrowing money from many people and losing its ability to pay, Nguyen Thi Thanh Thao still provided false information to create trust in order to borrow money from others.
Thao said she needed money to receive the transfer of a kiosk at Man Thai market and carry out procedures to issue a Certificate of Land Use Rights for the land plot being used.
Believing this information, Ms. N.T.H. (born in 1961, residing in Son Tra ward) lent Thao 335 million VND. Ms. T.T.Th. (born in 1969, residing in Son Tra ward) continued to lend Thao 500 million VND.
However, after receiving the money, Thao did not use it for the right purpose as committed but used it to pay personal debts, pay interest on previous loans and personal expenses.
The investigation determined that at the time of borrowing money from the two victims, Nguyen Thi Thanh Thao was no longer able to repay the debt, had no payment plan but still intentionally provided false information to appropriate property.
The investigating agency determined that the total amount Thao appropriated from the two victims was 835 million VND.
Based on documents and evidence collected, the Office of the Investigation Police Agency of Da Nang City Police has prosecuted the accused and temporarily detained Nguyen Thi Thanh Thao to serve the investigation.
Currently, the case is being further investigated and handled by the police agency in accordance with the law.
