Inventing a story of having 90 billion VND, going to Con Dao by private jet and then defrauding many people

Ho Chi Minh City - Ho Chi Minh City Police are expanding the investigation of a fraud case, in which the defendant fabricated a story of having 90 billion VND and going to Con Dao by private jet and then defrauding many people.

On August 24, the Investigation Police Agency of Ho Chi Minh City Police said that it is investigating a criminal case of fraud and appropriation of property that occurred in Con Dao Special Zone, Ho Chi Minh City, committed by defendant Lam Thi Cam Tien (37 years old, residing in Lieu Tu commune, Can Tho City).

The investigation determined that Tien provided false information about having a family member working at the Ministry of Public Security, hiring a private jet to transport 90 billion VND to Con Dao Special Zone to invest in real estate. However, when arriving at the airport, the airport security force temporarily seized the above amount. Cam Tien needed to borrow money to "bribe" and take out the temporarily seized money. Believing that it was true, many victims agreed to lend money to Tien many times, with billions of VND. After that, Tien appropriated and spent it personally.

The Investigation Police Agency of Ho Chi Minh City Police is also coordinating with the Investigation Police Agency of Can Tho City Police to clarify Tien's act of appropriating property by borrowing money from many people in many other provinces and cities across the country, with an amount of about more than 30 billion VND.

To serve the work of expanding the investigation, the Investigation Police Agency of Ho Chi Minh City Police announces that if you are a victim or a person related to the criminal acts of Lam Thi Cam Tien, please urgently contact the Office of the Investigation Police Agency of Ho Chi Minh City Police (Address: No. 47, Thanh Thai Street, Dien Hong Ward), meet Investigator Tran Trung Duc (Phone: 0981. 098. 498) for guidance on resolving according to the provisions of law.
