Distance between buildings
When choosing to buy an apartment, priority should be given to apartments that are not shielded by high-rise buildings in front. The clear space between buildings helps to receive better wind and natural light, while creating conditions for efficient air circulation.
In addition, you should choose an apartment with open space both in front and back. If all surfaces are covered by other structures, the air pressure difference will decrease, making air difficult to circulate, easily creating a feeling of stuffiness even though there is still draft.
Building structure
The design of the building also greatly affects ventilation. Buildings with one elevator serving two apartments per floor often have better ventilation systems than those with multiple apartments on the same floor.
If each floor has many apartments, corner apartments should be prioritized because they have many airy sides, helping to receive wind and circulate air more efficiently. Meanwhile, apartments in the middle often have poorer ventilation.
Choose the right floor
In high-rise buildings, the higher the apartment is, the better the ability to receive wind and natural ventilation is usually.
However, floors 1 to 4 may be obscured by green trees or surrounding structures, reducing air circulation. Meanwhile, floors from 9 to 12 are often considered areas prone to dust accumulation under certain conditions. Therefore, many people prioritize choosing floors from 5 to 7 or from 12 onwards for a more airy living environment.
Apartment direction
House direction is an important factor determining air circulation. Ideally, apartments should have open windows on both opposite sides, especially along the North-South axis, to create cross-ventilation, helping air circulate continuously.
If you cannot choose an apartment with cross-ventilation, you should prioritize a South-facing apartment because it has better wind reception and air conditioning. Southeast direction is also a suitable choice thanks to receiving cool breezes in the summer and limiting harsh sunshine.
