Ho Chi Minh City will clear about 5,800 households on the south bank of Doi canal to renovate the city and expand Pham The Hien street to 30 m.

The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction has just included 4 urban embellishment projects in the South bank of the Doi canal in the list of deployment for the 2026 - 2030 period according to urgent requirements that need to be implemented immediately.

The projects focus on building a system of embankments along the south bank of Doi canal, expanding Pham The Hien street, building synchronous technical infrastructure and increasing urban green space.

The section from Rach Ong bridge to Mat bridge (Chanh Hung ward) has a total capital of about 6,425 billion VND. Along with that is a synchronous technical infrastructure system including drainage, technical trenches, green trees, lighting and nearly 10 hectares of new green space. About 1,278 households are cleared. The project is expected to be implemented from the first quarter of 2028 to the first quarter of 2030.

The section from Ba Tang bridge to the south bank of Doi canal (Binh Dong ward) has a total capital of about 15,632 billion VND.

The scale includes building about 2.9 km of embankment on the south bank of Doi canal, expanding Pham The Hien street to 30 m and synchronously investing in technical infrastructure systems such as drainage, technical trenches, green trees, and lighting. From now to 2030, Ho Chi Minh City will implement 44 urban embellishment projects along canals and ditches. The total number of houses along canals and ditches expected to be relocated is 23,429 units, with a total investment of more than 166,000 billion VND.

In Binh Dong, Chanh Hung and Phu Dinh 3 wards (formerly District 8) alone, they account for more than 65% of the total number of houses to be relocated throughout the city, with about 15,708 houses.
