The Lao Cai - Hanoi - Hai Phong high-speed railway project was officially approved by the National Assembly at the meeting on February 19.
The total preliminary investment of the project is 203,231 billion VND. It is expected that this route will start construction at the end of 2025.
According to the plan, the entire Dong Pho Moi Industrial Park, Lao Cai City will be located in this project and will be forced to relocate.
Dong Pho Moi is the earliest industrial park established in Lao Cai in 2008. Followed by Tang Loong Industrial Park (in 2011) and Bac Duyen Hai (in 2012).
This is an industrial park built on the administrative boundary of Lao Cai ward and part of Van Hoa commune in Lao Cai city.
With a scale of 100 hectares, of which land for factory construction accounts for 69.95 hectares, along with the ratio of land allocated to investors to implement projects by 2024 reaching nearly 90% of the total area.
On February 23, at Dong Pho Moi Industrial Park, according to the reporter of Lao Dong Newspaper, many factories are in operation.
Through observation, this industrial park is located behind the mountain, facing the Red River in front. The entire area is covered by a dense residential area.
At the time of recording, workers of enterprises were still conducting bustling production activities, trucks carrying goods in and out were bustling.
Ms. Bui Thi Thap (a resident of Van Hoa commune, Lao Cai city) shared: "The Lao Cai - Hanoi - Hai Phong railway line is an important project of the country, so we are very supportive. However, a large industrial park is operating stably like that, so people hope that the relocation will take place soon so that work and life are not interrupted too much".
Through research, Dong Pho Moi Industrial Park currently has 42 registered projects with a total investment capital of VND 979 billion, of which 41 projects are operating stably, 1 project is both operating and construction in phase 2.
Enterprises here have created stable jobs for 423 workers, with an average income of 5.8 million VND/person/month. In 2023, the total revenue of this industrial park will reach 174.4 billion VND.
It is known that due to the lack of specific relocation plans and detailed planning, the factories are still maintaining normal production activities. The Economic Zone Management Board will step up propaganda and supervision so that business owners do not expand production scale.
Information from the Lao Cai Provincial Economic Zone Management Board, the unit committed to soon arrange suitable, convenient land funds with guaranteed infrastructure. The new place must be at least equal to or better than the old place. At the same time, he will also advise the province on solutions to minimize the impacts on the arrangement and relocation of factories and projects.
