The Noi Bai - Lao Cai Expressway construction project has a total length of 245km, passing through 5 provinces and cities: Hanoi, Vinh Phuc, Phu Tho, Yen Bai and Lao Cai with a scale of 4 lanes for the Noi Bai - Yen Bai section, 2 lanes for the Yen Bai - Lao Cai section.
After more than 10 years of the Noi Bai - Lao Cai Expressway being completed and put into operation and exploitation, with strong growth in vehicle traffic volume, especially heavy trucks, many sections of the route have now been damaged and show signs of deterioration.
In order to ensure safe operation of the Noi Bai - Lao Cai expressway, VEC has promptly repaired and repaired degraded and damaged road surfaces and traffic safety systems.
Currently, VEC has completed the signing of contractor selection and mobilized the implementation of bidding packages for repairing damaged road surfaces and traffic safety systems on the entire route. Contractors are urgently mobilizing personnel, machinery, and equipment to simultaneously construct repairs at the end of February.
At the same time, VEC is also implementing investment procedures to carry out the renovation of the Noi Bai - Yen Bai section (Km0 - Km12+080).
In order to meet transportation needs, ensure traffic order and safety and promote exploitation efficiency, VEC also submitted to competent authorities a plan to expand the Yen Bai - Lao Cai section with a total length of 121.33km (km123+090-Km244+155). with a complete investment scale of 4 lanes. The total investment is more than VND 7,600 billion, of which VEC mobilized more than VND 4,600 billion and the State budget capital is more than VND 3,000 billion.
VEC plans to start the Noi Bai - Lao Cai Expressway Expansion Project in the Yen Bai - Lao Cai section in the fourth quarter of this year.
