On August 22, Vung Tau Ward People's Committee (HCMC) said that it had a document reporting to competent authorities for consideration on adjusting a land area of nearly 2.9ha in Bai Sau area, from existing mixed-use tourism land (tourism, services, residential) to technical infrastructure land.
This land area is often called the old tourist market (formerly organized as a night market to serve tourists), which is included in the list of investment calls through land use right auctions. According to the plan, this land area is expected to be built into a high-class commercial center, with diverse services and unique architecture to bring domestic and foreign tourists a high-class shopping and resort destination.
According to the local proposal, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has organized working sessions with relevant units and agreed on the content of not continuing to organize auctions of land use rights for the 2.9ha old tourist market area. On that basis, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Agriculture and Environment has issued a document requesting the Land Fund Development Center to prepare a dossier to remove this 2.9ha land area from the 2026 land use right auction plan and submit it to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee for consideration.
Mr. Vu Hong Thuan - Chairman of Vung Tau Ward People's Committee - said that recently, the infrastructure of Vung Tau and neighboring localities is increasingly complete, attracting quite a few tourists to play and relax.
In which a large number of tourists travel to Vung Tau by private vehicles. Although the locality has deployed many parking areas in Thuy Van park, Tam Thang square and some vacant land areas, in reality, it is often overloaded.

It is expected that in the near future, the completion of the sea-crossing road connecting Vung Tau - Can Gio; operation of Long Thanh airport; Bien Hoa - Vung Tau expressway and connection projects to Vung Tau will contribute to attracting an increasing number of visitors to Vung Tau.
Therefore, the deployment of a public parking lot (smart or semi-smart), combining commercial and service functions, is suitable for the development situation in the locality; and will better serve tourists in the coming time," Mr. Vu Hong Thuan assessed.
In addition to planning to deploy parking lots in the 2.9ha land area, Vung Tau Ward People's Committee also has a document proposing to Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee to consider temporarily allocating some unused public houses and land in the area for exploitation to serve public purposes in the short term such as planting trees, arranging temporary parks, non-permanent public parking spots and community activity spots. Temporary exploitation is carried out until competent authorities complete procedures for exploitation, auction or official land allocation according to regulations.
