AC Milan confirms Ibra only has calf injuries, no career danger

AC Milan has conducted a medical examination and denied the information that striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has suffered an "achilles heel" injury, facing the risk of ending his player career.

"Zlatan has suffered a muscle injury in his right calf. However, his heel is completely intact. The next inspection will be conducted in the next 10 days," AC Milan said in a statement on the evening of May 26.

The Swedish striker suffered a leg injury during Monday's training session. Italian media reported that Ibra had a torn tendon and an "achilles heel" injury, which could end his playing career. However, medical tests on Tuesday determined that Ibra only suffered an affected right calf.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has arrived at AC Milan in the winter transfer window with a short-term contract expiring on 30 June. The "Rossoneri" are intending to sign for another year, but the 38-year-old striker has been hesitant and insists he will "only stick with it if he is still useful".

Most recently, Bologna coach - Sinisa Mihajlovic announced that Ibra will definitely not stay in Milan. "He called me a few days ago and we'll see what he decides to do this summer. Ibra will definitely not stay in Milan but will also consider joining Bologna or returning to Sweden. ", Mihajlovic said

If he returns home, Ibrahimovic could play for Hammarby, a club he owns a 25% stake in. The club has a headquarters in Stockholm, where the 38-year-old striker also practiced to maintain his fitness during the COVID-19 pandemic break. Hammarby sporting director Jesper Jansson affirmed that the team always welcomes Ibra in both leadership and player role.

Currently, Serie A is still suspended because Italy has not completely controlled the COVID-19 epidemic. The Football Association of Italy (FIGC) has set a deadline for the end of the 2019/20 season on August 20.
