Raphinha, 29, was injured in the first half of a friendly match where Brazil lost 1-2 to France at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, USA.
After being substituted in the first half, tests performed by the Brazilian medical team on March 27 confirmed that he had a right hamstring injury.
Raphinha will return to Barcelona for treatment, but he will not be able to play until May and will miss some important upcoming matches of the club.
Barcelona will face Atletico 3 times in the next few weeks, starting with the away match at Metropolitano Stadium next Saturday in LaLiga. Currently, Barca is still leading the standings, 4 points ahead of Real Madrid.
After that, Barcelona will again face Atletico in two legs of the Champions League quarter-finals, with the first leg taking place at Spotify Camp Nou stadium on April 8 and the second leg in Madrid on April 14. Atletico Madrid is the team that eliminated Barcelona in the Spanish King's Cup semi-finals.
If Barca wins that match, they will host Arsenal or Sporting CP in the first leg of the semi-finals at the end of April, and the second leg will take place away from home in early May. These are both matches where Raphinha is at risk of missing.
This season, Raphinha is still one of Barcelona's best players when he has scored 19 goals in 31 appearances. However, this is also the third time in the season he has suffered a hamstring injury.
The Brazilian player missed 13 matches for Barcelona and the Spanish national team from September to November 2025 and 3 more matches from January to February 2026.
Marcus Rashford may benefit from Raphinha's latest injury, as the English striker is likely to replace his position on the left wing of the attack, although coach Hansi Flick has other options.
Dani Olmo and Fermín Lopez have both been used as wingers, as has Ferran Torres, while Joao Cancelo and Roony Bardghji are also candidates to fill the position if needed.
