The homepage of Sint-Truidense club has posted a list of 19 players who will be registered to play against Waasland Beveren in round 7 of the Belgian National Championship. Notably, the striker of the Vietnam national team, Cong Phuong, is not on the list.
This is the third time Cong Phuong has been removed from the list. It is worth mentioning that luck also "disappears" for Phuong. In the 2 matches he sat in the stands to cheer for his teammates, Sint-Truidense won all 3 points. The "OSP" surprisingly beat tycoon Standard Liege in the third round, before defeating Eupen with a score of 2-0 in the sixth round of the Belgian National Championship.
Since the beginning of the season, Cong Phuong has been registered for 4 matches but only entered the field for 20 minutes in the 0-6 loss to Club Brugge. Due to his lack of playing time, the striker was moved to play for the senior team of Sint-Truidense to maintain his ball feel.
Cong Phuong has made efforts that have been recognized and praised by coach Brys. However, his playing opportunities are still getting narrower, as Sint-Truidense continuously bring in many quality contracts.
Most recently, they have successfully recruited a player nicknamed "Korean Messi", Lee Seung-Woo from Hellas Verona club. This striker has not debuted for a new team in this round 7.
Currently, Sint-Truidense have 7 points after 6 rounds, ranking 12th on the rankings, while Waasland-Beveren has only 1 point and is at the bottom of the table. Therefore, the goal of Cong Phuong teammates is to win all 3 points against the opponent considered the weakest in the Belgian National Championship.
