Bayern led Real in the second leg of the semi-final thanks to Alphoso Davies. However, Real Madrid successfully reversed the score when Joselu scored in the 88th and 90+1st minutes, in which the next goal came after being checked by VAR.
In the 90+13 minute, Matthijs de Ligt put the ball into Real's net but the linesman raised the offside flag earlier. The referee also did not check VAR in this phase. In the end, Real beat Bayern 2-1 (4-3 overall) to reach the UEFA Champions League final.
Sharing with TNT Sport, Tuchel said that the late-match decision of Polish referee Szymon Marciniak was a disaster. He shared: "The first big mistake was the referee. He played in an uncertain situation that was an offside and was a wrong decision. The main referee has the right not to blow the whistle in a situation where we have a shot in the penalty area afterwards. He made the decision to blow the whistle and violated all the rules.
Center back De Ligt said the referees apologized to him after the match for his wrong decision. This made Tuchel even more angry. We accept the apology, he said. But this is a semi-final. This is not the time to apologize. This is not the time to make two very important mistakes.
Everyone was suffering and disappointed. Referees need to be qualified and apologizing is useless. We want the best referees and if he can't ensure 100% of the work, the apology is useless."
After the match, De Ligt said the Bayern referee was not given the same chances as Madrid. When scoring the second goal, striker Joselu was reported to be offside. But the referee later consulted VAR and recognized the goal for Real. Bayern don't.
"I think we all know the rules. If the offside is not clear, you have to continue playing! This is the law! I felt a little ashamed. Joselu's goal was also almost offside and they still let the situation happen. So why didn't it happen to us?" De Ligt was upset after the match.
Meanwhile, coach Carlo Ancelotti denied Bayern Munich's complaints at the post-match press conference. He said his team should have equalized earlier in the 73rd minute. However, Nacho's goal was disallowed, after the VAR referee determined that he had fouled Joshua Kimmich.
He said: "This situation is quite clear, the assistant raised the flag to report of offside, the referee blew the whistle and we stopped and did not play. If they speak up about the incident, we can complain about Nacho's unrecognized goal, because Kimmich fell while the two were pushing each other."
