Al-Nassr and Ronaldo's rivals set a world record

Al-Hilal - opponent of Al-Nassr and Cristiano Ronaldo in Saudi Arabia, set a world record for consecutive wins.

In the early morning of March 13 (Vietnam time), Al-Hilal club won a place in the semi-finals of the AFC Champions League when they won 2-0 against their hometown team Al-Ittihad.

Yasser Al- Shahrani and Malcom scored for Al-Hilal, thereby setting the final score at 4-0 after 2 matches.

Also with this victory, Al-Hilal officially set a world record for a series of 28 consecutive wins in all competitions.

Al-Hilal, who hold a record of winning the Asian championship 4 times, will face Al Ain in the semi-finals next month. Notably, the UAE side have dropped Cristiano Ronaldo's Al-Nassr after a penalty shootout in Riyadh.

Al-Hilal have officially overcome the 27-match winning streak of Welsh club, The New Saints, in the 2016-2017 season.

Before that, this record existed for 44 years after Ajax Amsterdam's 26-match winning streak from 1971 to 1972,

Coach Jorge Jesus said: Everyone at Al Hilal is happy with the historic milestone of world football with 28 consecutive wins. However, as I have said many times, records are not as important as titles.

Everyone at Al-Hilal has a responsibility to ensure that we end the season as champions of Saudi Arabia and achieve the goal of the cup tournaments.

Only then can we truly celebrate.

Currently, Al-Hilal is unbeaten this season and 12 points ahead of second-placed team Saudi Pro League Al-Nassr. They have also reached the semi-finals of the King's Cup.

Their world-record winning streak began on September 25, 2023.
