Vincent Kompany has only been in charge for a few weeks but has adapted well to life in Munich. There are even similarities in the Belgian's approach to Pep Guardiola.
Bayern are a team of talented individuals, but Kompany has guided them to develop as a cohesive unit. And that is no easy task for a coach as young as 38 years old Kompany.
Thomas Muller used the word fun to describe the atmosphere at the Allianz Arena at the moment. And it makes us all realize that, that is what the "Gray Tigers" have been missing throughout last season.
So what is different about Bayern under Kompany? For one thing, they are constantly pressing their opponents, and doing so with gusto throughout the 90 minutes. They are always looking to regain possession as quickly as possible, and this is a Kompany touch. Gone is the pressure and lethargy of last season, and Bayern are the team we are used to seeing.
It's impossible to talk about the new start under Kompany without highlighting the explosive form of Michael Olise. The former Crystal Palace man has five goals in his first six games for his new club.
A left-footed player who plays as a right-forward in a 4-2-3-1, Olise possesses a skill set that most players dream of. He has flair, imagination and finishing ability. Even at a transfer fee of €53 million, this could still be a bargain for the "Gray Tigers".
Olise fits in perfectly with Harry Kane, who has broken a number of new records in recent days. The striker has become the highest-scoring English player in both the Champions League and Bundesliga. With 10 goals in six games, Kane is on course to become Germany's dominant striker for the second season running.
Meanwhile, Jamal Musiala continued to shine playing behind Kane. He continuously created seemingly impossible plays with his skillful dribbling, running and passing.
Kompany also made some smart tactical and personnel decisions. Joshua Kimmich was a holding midfielder instead of a right-back, even with Josip Stanisic and Sacha Boey out injured. Aleksandar Pavlovic started, while Joao Palhinha will have to spend more time on the bench than expected.
While Thomas Tuchel has had to rotate between various centre-backs, Kompany has clearly placed his trust in the pairing of Dayot Upamecano and Kim Min-jae.
However, the real challenges are yet to come for Kompany's team. And Leverkusen could be the test of the quality of the "Gray Tigers" at this time. Although Leverkusen's defense is no longer solid, they still know how to cause difficulties for Bayern in a way that many other teams cannot.
After Leverkusen, Aston Villa, Eintracht Frankfurt, Stuttgart and Barcelona will be Kompany's next challenges. If he can maintain his current form, Kompany's start at the Allianz Arena will not be a fluke.
