Football fans will be excited about transfers, but will Chelsea fans become a bottle of emotion when their team signs a bright rookie?
Including signings with Geovany Quenda and Denner Evangelista, who will travel to Stamford Bridge in the summer of 2026, Chelsea have had 50 new signings (including loans) since Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital took over in 2022.
On average, the Blues have more than 7 new contracts per transfer window, with the current summer market having nearly two months left.
The Blues have signed Joao Pedro for £60 million, while Dortmund's Jamie Gittens are also set to join Stamford Bridge this summer. One thing that people often wonder when Chelsea sign a current player is whether they really need it or not?

However, when it comes to Gittens, this deal is really necessary for the Blues' attack left wing. Coach Enzo Maresca has only two options at the moment: Raheem Sterling and Mykhailo Mudryk. And both have no future at the club for various reasons.
Of the total 2,793 minutes played for Dortmund in all competitions last season, Gittens played as a left winger for most of their time.. Therefore, it is not surprising that Maresca will continue to use him in that role.
Jadon Sancho has played 77% of his 2,424 minutes in all competitions as a left winger for Chelsea. However, The Blues decided not to activate the buy-in clause from Manchester United.
Last season, Pedro Neto also had 25% of his playing time as a left winger and Noni Madueke was 14%. However, both have played better on the right wing, while Madueke has been linked with a move away from Chelsea this summer.
Gittens scored 12 goals for Dortmund in 48 matches in all competitions last season. He has been the Dortmund player with the most appearances, while only Serhou Guirassy (34) has scored more goals for the team.
Meanwhile, Joao Pedro came to Stamford Bridge with a lot of experience playing in England after joining Watford in January 2020 and spending two and a half seasons at Vicarage Road. Pedro then moved to Brighton in the summer of 2023.

The Brazilian has scored 30 goals in 70 appearances for the Seagulls in all competitions. Although half of those were penalties (15), almost all were taken home by Pedro himself.
This is not surprising, as in the last two Premier League seasons (at least 2,000 minutes of play), only seven players have committed an average of more fouls per 90 minutes than Pedro (22.4). And there are only 11 players who have touched the ball in the opponent's penalty area on average every 90 minutes more than him (7.5).
Although Pedro is uncertain to take many penalty kicks for Chelsea when Cole Palmer is still at Stamford Bridge, the 23-year-old player can still contribute a lot.
In addition to being a threat in attack, the Brazilian player also played hard without the ball. Pedro has taken possession of the ball in the final third of the opponent's court 23 times in the Premier League last season, at a rate of 1.1 times per 90 minutes.
Of the players who played at least 1,000 minutes in the English top flight last season, only 6 have done better than Pedro in that aspect. And none of them are Chelsea players.
