Man United hosted Bournemouth in round 17 of the Premier League last weekend and lost 0-3 at Old Trafford.
Sharing on his podcast on December 22, Gary Neville expressed his disappointment with this result:
“All the players in the squad are mediocre. I don't know why they are like that. They are better than they appear, but it is becoming a problem."
"The positive thing is that coach Ruben Amorim sees this problem. In the past, fans were fooled into thinking that Man United had a classy squad because of good results and progress in the rankings. In fact, the level of these players is far below that of the top teams."
Neville added: "Ruben Amorim will have six months to look at the club. He's seen what the Man United fans have been through for the last 10 years. There needs to be a cultural overhaul at the club."
Man United hosted Bournemouth and conceded their first goal in the 29th minute, when centre-back Dean Huijsen headed in a set piece. The Red Devils have conceded 17 goals from set pieces in 2024 - the most in a calendar year in the English top flight.
In the second half, Justin Kluivert scored from the penalty spot to double the gap for Bournemouth in the 60th minute. Just 3 minutes later, Antoine Semenyo scored the third goal to seal the score 3-0. This defeat meant that for the first time in history, Man United entered Christmas in the bottom half of the rankings.
