Overview
Manchester City quickly regained stability after a chaotic 3-3 draw against Everton with a convincing 3-0 victory over Brentford.
Goals in the second half from Jeremy Doku, Erling Haaland and Omar Marmoush helped Pep Guardiola's team continue to chase fiercely in the Premier League title race.
However, Man City did not receive the "assistance" as expected when Arsenal defeated West Ham United 1-0 in the match that took place afterwards. Mikel Arteta's team only maintained the victory thanks to VAR's controversial decision when they denied West Ham's late equalizer.
This result makes Man City continue to be 5 points behind Arsenal in the standings. However, if they beat Crystal Palace, the gap will be narrowed to 2 points before the final stage of the season.
After the match against Palace, Man City will enter the FA Cup final this weekend before closing the Premier League campaign with encounters with Bournemouth and Aston Villa.
Guardiola's team understands that any slip-up against Palace could open up an opportunity for Arsenal to win right in their last home match against Burnley next week.
However, Man City has reason to be confident as they are on a 36-match unbeaten streak at home in the Premier League on Wednesdays (local time) since May 2010, including 30 wins.
In addition, since the end of August last year, The Citizens have also not lost any home matches in the Premier League, with a record of 13 wins and 3 draws. Notably, they scored 2 or more goals in 14 of their last 16 home matches.
Head-to-head history also leans towards the Etihad home team. Man City has only lost 1 of their last 9 encounters with Crystal Palace in all competitions - a 0-1 defeat in the 2025 FA Cup final at Wembley.
In the opposite direction, Crystal Palace just experienced a historic week when they won a ticket to the Conference League final before drawing 2-2 with Everton at Selhurst Park in the Premier League.
Coach Oliver Glasner praised the excellent performance of his players - the result that helped Palace officially stay in the league. The London team is currently ranked 15th in the standings, 8 points ahead of the relegation group and still has hope of breaking into the upper half when only 5 points behind 9th place.
Although certainly unable to surpass last season's 53 points record, Palace is still showing many positive signs under Glasner.
Notably, Crystal Palace often plays quite well every time they visit Etihad in recent years. They have scored at least 2 goals in 6/7 of their most recent trips to Man City's stadium and won a total of 8 points in that streak.
This season, Palace even earned more away points than at home in the Premier League. However, their recent away form is quite worrying when they lost 6 of their last 9 away matches, including two consecutive defeats against Liverpool and Bournemouth with a total score of 1-6.
Expected lineup:
Man City: Donnarumma, Nunes, Khusanov, Guehi, O'Reilly, Gonzalez, Bernardo, Semenyo, Cherki, Doku, Haaland.
Crystal Palace: Henderson, Richards, Lacroix, Riad, Munoz, Hughes, Wharton, Mitchell, Pino, Sarr, Mateta.
The match between Man City and Crystal Palace takes place at 2:00 AM on May 14 (Vietnam time).
