People's Artist Bui Bai Binh, born in 1956, had a brilliant youth at Vietnam Feature Film Studio. In 1973, he studied in course 2 of Vietnam Cinema School with Phuong Thanh, Huu Muoi, Dang Viet Bao and Thanh Quy.
In 1975, while still studying at school, he was chosen to participate in his first role (Trác) in the movie "Kén rể" directed by Pham Van Khoa.
With a gentle, somewhat austere face, People's Artist Bui Bai Binh at that time was always chosen for chính diện (positive/positive) and chân chất (simple/sincere) roles in films such as: Bức tường không xây (The wall not built), Khoảnh khắc yên lặng của chiến tranh (Silent moment of war), Thị trấn yên tĩnh (Quiet town), Lấy nhau vì tình (Marrying each other for love), Sơn ca trong thành phố (Song ca in the city)...
In 2001, People's Artist Bui Bai Binh played Hoa in the movie "Mua Oi" directed by - People's Artist Dang Nhat Minh. With his excellent transformation ability, People's Artist Bui Bai Binh won the Golden Lotus Award in the Best Leading Actor category at the 13th Vietnam Film Festival.
In 2016, when he turned 60, People's Artist Bui Bai Binh retired under the regime. Although retired, he still actively acted in television and film films. People's Artist Bui Bai Binh had spectacular "turns" in his career when playing a series of cruel villain roles in the TV series Ma Lang, Gio Lang Kinh...

In a conversation with Lao Dong reporters, People's Artist Bui Bai Binh shared about his retirement life, "I still act in movies regularly. A few movies each year, if I find any interesting role that can be creative, I will accept it. I have also just become a grandfather. My second son and his wife have just welcomed more members for the family... My life is very simple now.
The greatest joy is seeing my wife and children, the grandchildren healthy and peaceful. My husband and I currently live with my second son's family. Simple life, and for me, that's already very happy.
People's Artist Bui Bai Binh and his wife have 2 sons, the eldest son currently works at a bank, and the youngest son studies directing.
NSND Bui Bai Binh's wife is actress Ngoc Thu, they used to work together at Vietnam Feature Film Studio.
Talking about his retirement life, People's Artist Bui Bai Binh said, "Every month I receive about 6 million VND in pension. It used to be less, now it has increased like that.
But my life motto is very simple, having little and spending little, having a lot and spending a lot. Family spending is just right for the amount of money we have. The value of life is not only in material things, but also in spirit. At this age, I can still do the work I like, occasionally go to make movies, so what else can I hope for? What I want most is for my family and loved ones to always be healthy”.
In 2026, People's Artist Bui Bai Binh participates in the movie "Phí phông: Quỷ máu rừng thiêng". In the movie, he plays a cruel shaman, like "phí phông" in the village. "Phí phông: Quỷ máu rừng thiêng" is still in theaters, with revenue close to 200 billion VND.
In the near future, People's Artist Bui Bai Binh will be on air with a prime-time TV series project called "Under the Bright Windows". He plays a father with a heroic spirit, always doing his best for his children.
