Overview
After a 1-2 defeat to Napoli at the Stadio Maradona last week, Torino is still struggling in the Serie A relegation battle with only 6 points ahead of the relegation group.
Since the national team gathering at the end of November, no team in Serie A has lost more matches than Torino. Only the bottom 3 teams, Cremonese, Hellas Verona and Pisa, have suffered up to 11 defeats in this period.
Coach Roberto D'Aversa - who was appointed last month - is tasked with helping Granata stay in the league. So far, Torino has won 3 points after 2 matches under his leadership.
Previously, D'Aversa had a favorable start when helping Torino win their first home match after replacing Marco Baroni, with a 2-0 victory over Lazio in Turin.
However, that match took place in a rather special atmosphere when the stands at the Olimpico Grande stadium were almost empty. Torino fans are still continuing to protest against the ownership of President Urbano Cairo.
Amidst tensions between fans and the board, Torino will host Parma this weekend. Another defeat could put the team in a more dangerous position in the relegation race.
On the other side, Parma entered the match with confidence after winning 2-1 in the meeting between the two teams in September. The yellow-green team is aiming to defeat Torino twice in the same Serie A season for the first time since 2013.
Parma's recent form is also quite impressive as they have won three and drawn two in the last 5 matches. Currently ranked 12th in the standings, coach Carlos Cuesta's team is 10 points ahead of the relegation zone.
Despite being held to a 0-0 draw by Fiorentina in the previous round, Parma is still on the right track in the goal of relegation. Notably, they have won 7 points in the last three away games, when they successively defeated Bologna and AC Milan before drawing with Fiorentina - all keeping a clean sheet.
In Serie A history, Parma has never had 4 consecutive away matches without a clean sheet. However, they have a great opportunity to do that when Torino owns one of the weakest attacks in the league this season.
Personnel situation
D'Aversa is likely to have almost full force for his third match as Torino captain. Currently, only Zakaria Aboukhlal is still uncertain to play.
The Moroccan winger has missed the last 3 matches due to two different injuries, but he has returned to training in recent days and may be on the bench.
On the other side, Parma's attack is likely to be led by Mateo Pellegrino. This striker has twice scored a double against Torino in 2025, but his recent form is not really stable when he has only scored one goal in the last 9 matches in Serie A.
Parma is also facing some force issues. Adrian Bernabe and Sascha Britschgi are still uncertain to recover from their injuries, while Pontus Almqvist and Matija Frigan are definitely absent.
However, the away team may welcome good news in defense when Lautaro Valenti is likely to return after serving a one-match suspension.
Expected lineup:
Paleari, Coco, Ismajli, Ebosse, Lazaro, Gineitis, Prati, Vlasic, Obrador, Simeone, Zapata.
Corvi, Troilo, Circati, Valenti, Del Prato, Sorensen, Keita, Nicolussi Caviglia, Valeri, Strefezza, Pellegrino.
The match between Torino and Parma takes place at 2:45 am on March 14 (Vietnam time).
