Jadon Sancho's move to the Champions League final against Dortmund was a surprise "gift" for Manchester United.
Not because of the way for Sancho to return to Old Trafford, but because the value of this player will skyrocket after reaching the final. If Sancho raises his Champions League title at Wembley, Man United could recover a significant portion of the £73 million they paid to Dortmund in 2021.
Despite Sancho's revival since joining Dortmund on loan in January, the "Red Devils" still want to make money from the English player. Even with Erik ten Hag leaving Old Trafford, Man United's stance is still to sell the 24-year-old player.
Whether Ten Hag's successor agrees with that view remains to be seen. However, with the current situation, Sancho is unlikely to wear the Man United shirt again.
The problem with Sancho is that his talent is not consistently shown. This has happened throughout Sancho's stormy career. Compared to expectations, it is clear that the striker from Man United has not been able to meet the expectations.
As a teenager, Sancho disappointed Man City coaches with his attitude and led to joining Dortmund. That bold move was a success for Sancho himself, who scored 50 goals in 137 appearances at Signal Iduna Park. That was the springboard to help the 24-year-old join Man United and have the opportunity to shine in the Premier League.
But while he thrived at Dortmund, Sancho's flaws were on the rise at Man United. The English striker could not create such brilliant and stable form as he showed in the Bundesliga. The argument with Erik ten Hag was the end of Sancho's forgettable time at Man United.
Eliminated from the first team and training facilities of the "Red Devils" for 4 months, Dortmund saved Sancho at the right time. In the Champions League semi-final against Paris St Germain, Sancho "tortured" Nuno Mendes and was voted the best player of the first leg.
In the return match, despite only playing for 67 minutes, the 24-year-old player still caused problems for PSG with his agile legs and speed. If there is no conflict with Ten Hag, Sancho will not have the opportunity to participate in the prestigious Champions League final as it is now.
After Man United's 1-3 defeat to Arsenal last September, Ten Hag was asked why Sancho was absent and replied that it was because the winger had not trained properly, leading to a public argument between the two sides.
But Ten Hag accidentally helped Sancho, creating an opportunity for the winger to play with a smile on his lips and aim for the Champions League title. Remember, the "Red Devils" do not even have a chance to participate in the Champions League next season.
At least for now, Sancho has had a smile against Ten Hag and Man United.
