Tottenham Hotspur have sacked Thomas Frank from the position of head coach, ending the 52-year-old strategist's term lasting less than 8 months.
The decision was made in the context of Tottenham falling to 16th place in the Premier League, right after a 1-2 home defeat to Newcastle United.
In the stands, Frank had to endure shouts "you will be sacked tomorrow morning", while a part of the fans also called out former coach Mauricio Pochettino's name amidst the team's 11th defeat in the league this season.
In an official announcement, Tottenham said the club "has decided to change the position of head coach of the men's team" and Frank "will leave today". Spurs also emphasized the results and performances that led the board to the conclusion that change needed at this time of the season.
According to sources, Tottenham has not finalized the successor and the plan to appoint a temporary coach is considered feasible. CEO Vinai Venkatesham will make a statement tomorrow on this issue.
