Manchester United stars have rallied behind Casemiro after their nightmare against Liverpool. The Brazilian midfielder endured a miserable game as the Red Devils lost 3-0 to Liverpool at Old Trafford. Casemiro was directly at fault for both of the first two goals conceded, both of which were scored by Luis Diaz.
Casemiro was constantly jeered by Liverpool fans for his poor passes. Things got worse for the former Real Madrid midfielder when he was replaced by young midfielder Toby Collyer at half-time.
Despite Casemiro's nightmare, his United teammates came to his defence after the game, with captain Bruno Fernandes reportedly the first to speak out in the dressing room.
"What's the point of criticising Casemiro for losing the ball or Kobbie Mainoo for losing the ball? It's part of football. Don't make it personal.
Casemiro has more experience than me. He has played for two of the strongest clubs in the world. I don't need to tell him anything, because Casemiro knows what football is" - Bruno Fernandes said after the match.
According to The Sun, the Portuguese midfielder insists Casemiro is not at fault and the team has a responsibility to turn things around. This is a view shared by other players at Old Trafford. All are unanimous in supporting the Brazilian midfielder to overcome the horror against Liverpool.
More importantly, the defeat to Liverpool does not affect Casemiro's future with the club. Despite interest from the Saudi Pro League, Ten Hag and the Man United board are of the same mind to keep Casemiro.
"You know and Casemiro also knows what happens. Casemiro will continue and we will continue. He is a great player. We will continue this season to improve the team and the players. Casemiro has shown many times that he is a great character. He has won everything in his career.
We've all seen great moments from Casemiro and he's always decisive in midfield. He'll show it again and he'll be back," Ten Hag said.
Casemiro will have a two-week holiday during the FIFA Days in September. The Brazilian midfielder has not been called up to the national team for the matches against Ecuador and Paraguay.
The veteran midfielder will now be focused on United's next game in two weeks' time, with the Red Devils facing struggling Southampton at St Mary's on September 14.
