On the afternoon of October 3, the Hanoi International Women's Football Tournament - T&T Group Cup 2024 officially kicked off at Hang Day Stadium.
The tournament was organized by the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports in coordination with the Hanoi Football Federation and other units, as part of a series of activities to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of the Capital (October 10, 1954 - October 10, 2024).
In his opening speech, Mr. Do Dinh Hong - Director of Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports affirmed that the 2024 international women's football tournament is a meaningful playground, aiming to build solidarity and friendship between cities and countries; at the same time, it is a bridge for development, cooperation, and exchange in economics, sports and culture.
The 2024 Hanoi International Women's Football Tournament has 4 participating teams: Thai Nguyen T&T, Hanoi (Vietnam), Beijing (China) and Manila Digger (Philippines).
Mr. Do Vinh Quang - Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors and Deputy General Director of T&T Group said: "The tournament is an opportunity for Vietnamese female players to compete and learn from international teams, gradually realizing the goal of raising the level of women's football.
Through accompanying this tournament, we hope to create conditions for female athletes to practice and develop their talents, especially to encourage and support women in the field of sports...".
In the opening match, Thai Nguyen T&T Club faced Beijing (China). The red card of goalkeeper Pan Hongyan in the 10th minute created a turning point for the match.
My Anh, Bich Thuy, and Minh Chuyen scored in turn to help the Vietnamese representative win 3-1 against their opponent. The only goal of the Beijing team came from Xinling.
In the later match, Hanoi FC showed their superiority against Manila Digger (Philippines). The capital team easily defeated their opponent with a score of 6-0 with a double from Hai Yen and goals from Vu Thi Hoa, Nguyen Thi Hoa, Tu Anh and an own goal from the away team.
