Vietnam U17 had a rough start in the opening match of the 2025 AFC U17 qualifiers. Coach Cristiano Roland's team was held to a 0-0 draw by Kyrgyzstan U17.
Nguyen Luc and his teammates dominated the game, controlled the ball well, and attacked sharply to create many dangerous opportunities but were unable to take advantage of them to score.
In the next round, U17 Vietnam will face U17 Myanmar - a team that is considered to be weaker. Previously, Myanmar lost 1-6 to U17 Yemen in the opening match. Therefore, if they want to keep their chance to continue, the home team needs to win by a bigger score.
Not long ago, the current U17 Vietnam team (previously U16 Vietnam under the leadership of Mr. Tran Minh Chien) defeated Myanmar 5-1 at the U17 Southeast Asian Championship. This is the motivation for the players to compete towards favorable results.
However, to do this, U17 Vietnam must improve their finishing and ability to take advantage of opportunities. Ball situations in the penalty area need to be handled more skillfully, to avoid opponents easily swooping in to clear the ball.
The match between U17 Vietnam and U17 Myanmar will take place at 7:00 p.m. today (October 25), broadcast live on FPT Play and the YouTube channel of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF).
