Tonight, at 9:00 PM (Vietnam time), FIFA will hold the U17 World Cup 2026 group stage draw ceremony in Zurich (Switzerland), marking the start of the biggest youth tournament on the planet taking place in Qatar at the end of this year.
This is the first time U17 Vietnam has participated in the U17 World Cup after passing the group stage of the 2026 AFC U17 Championship. According to the seeding group, coach Cristiano Roland's team is in group 4 with U17 China, U17 Uruguay, U17 Serbia and U17 Romania. This makes U17 Vietnam likely to fall into a difficult group with many strong opponents from South America and Europe.
This year's U17 World Cup continues to apply a new format with 48 participating teams, divided into 12 groups. The top two teams in each group and 8 third-placed teams with the best results will enter the round of 16. FIFA also decided to maintain the annual organization model for the U17 tournament and assigned Qatar to host at least until 2030.
In the No. 1 seed group, there are many championship candidates such as U17 Brazil, U17 France, U17 Argentina, U17 Spain, U17 Japan and host U17 Qatar. Meanwhile, teams in Groups 2 and 3 also have many notable representatives such as U17 Morocco, U17 Croatia, U17 Australia, U17 New Zealand or U17 Cameroon...
The draw will be broadcast live on FIFA platforms including FIFA+, FIFA YouTube channel.
