The Vietnam futsal team will enter the quarter-finals of the 2026 Asian Futsal Championship with a big challenge named Indonesia. This is considered a real test for coach Diego Giustozzi's team, when they have to face the pressure of playing away from home and facing an opponent with stable form.
Indonesia closed the group stage with the top spot in Group A, maintaining an unbeaten record after 3 matches. The playing style based on physical strength, high intensity and continuous pressure ability helped the home team create a clear advantage, especially when playing under the enthusiastic cheers of home fans.
However, experts assess that the gap between the two teams is not too large. The Vietnamese and Indonesian futsal teams are both among the top futsal teams in Southeast Asia.
Indonesian coach Hector Souto also acknowledged the competitiveness in the region, saying that teams like Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia or Indonesia are all capable of defeating each other if they are well prepared and take advantage of opportunities.
Before entering the knockout round, the Vietnamese futsal team completed the group stage according to the set plan. The team won two important victories against Kuwait and Lebanon, thereby quickly creating an advantage in the race for a ticket to the next round. The narrow 0-1 defeat to Thailand in the last round did not affect the overall situation, Vietnam closed the group stage in second place.
Throughout the group stage, the coaching staff focused on personnel testing, adjusting tactics according to each opponent and maintaining competition discipline. The coaching assistants also actively monitored and analyzed potential opponents in the next round, in which Indonesia was included in the assessment area early.
The match between the Vietnamese and Indonesian futsal teams takes place at 7:00 PM today (February 3), broadcast live on TV360.
