On January 12, recorded at supermarket systems in Ho Chi Minh City, pork prices have slightly increased in some items but are generally still stable. Fresh meat stalls at Co.opmart, Big C, WinMart, Bach Hoa Xanh... are always regularly supplemented with goods, with abundant supply. Pork prices fluctuate commonly around 110,000-180,000 VND/kg (depending on the type).
The number of shoppers has not fluctuated significantly, many consumers said they still prioritize buying pork at supermarkets thanks to clear origin, controlled quality and regular promotions.
I see that the price has slightly increased, especially the shoulder and snout, but the increase is not too high, so it is still acceptable" - Ms. Do Thanh Ha (living in Ben Thanh ward) shared.

Information from the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Finance said that pork prices under the market stabilization program are adjusted to increase by 2,000-12,000 VND/kg, depending on the item (equivalent to an increase of 1-15%, suitable for live pig price fluctuations), but still lower than the average price on the market by 5-30%.
Businesses participating in the pork price stabilization program in Ho Chi Minh City include: C.P Vietnam Livestock Joint Stock Company - CN3 (Dong Nai), Ho Chi Minh City Trading Cooperative Union (Saigon Co.op), Vietnam Livestock Engineering Company (Vissan), Saigon Agriculture Corporation and Central Retail Vietnam Group.
According to the new price list, the group of items with the strongest increase is shoulder and armpit meat, with a maximum increase of 12,000 VND/kg.
Functional sectors said that the adjustment of price stabilization is implemented when businesses have requests and when raw material prices and input costs increase by over 3% compared to the previous price announcement. Within 3 working days from receiving sufficient dossiers, the Department of Finance will take the lead in coordinating with relevant departments, branches and businesses to consider and agree on the adjustment level.
Over the past time, pork supply has decreased due to the impact of epidemics and natural disasters, while input costs have increased, forcing units participating in the price stabilization program to adjust retail prices to balance operations. In fact, pork prices at wholesale markets are also tending to increase slightly, especially for items such as thigh meat, shell meat and lean meat.
According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Agriculture and Environment, for pork, the supply in Ho Chi Minh City is still relatively stable. Farms have proactively increased herds and stockpiled goods, not only meeting the needs of the city but also ready to support localities facing difficulties.
In addition, the Department firmly grasps the situation of suppliers of livestock and poultry meat, and at the same time coordinates with the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Food Safety to deploy safe food supply chains, in order to ensure quality and food safety and hygiene for the city market.
