According to initial information, the accident occurred at about 12:00 on February 3 on National Highway 20, the section through Bao Loc Pass, in Da Huoai 2 commune (Lam Dong).

At the above time, a truck with license plate 84C-108.90 driven by driver Le Huu Thinh (35 years old, residing in Tra Vinh ward, Vinh Long province), carrying an excavator, was traveling on National Highway 20 in the direction from Da Lat to Ho Chi Minh City.

When reaching the curve at Km103 Bao Loc pass, the section passing through Dai Duc Me area (Da Huoai 2 commune), the truck suddenly lost its brakes and plunged into a deep abyss on the side of the road. In the car at this time, in addition to the driver, there was also assistant driver Le Van Tue (residing in Tra Vinh ward, Vinh Long province).
Recorded at the scene, the truck was blocked by forest trees, lying halfway in the abyss about 5m deep. The strong collision caused the cabin and body of the car to be deformed and heavily damaged.

The accident killed driver Le Huu Thinh, trapped in the cabin; assistant driver Le Van Tue was injured and taken to Lam Dong Hospital II for emergency treatment by people.
Upon receiving the news, functional forces of Lam Dong province and local authorities were present at the scene to regulate traffic and organize rescue and relief work.

The Fire and Rescue Team of Region 3 (Fire and Rescue Police Department of Lam Dong Police) mobilized more than 10 officers, soldiers, and vehicles to be present to deploy rescue and relief work.
At 1:15 PM on the same day, rescue forces brought the dead victim out of the truck cabin and out of the deep abyss.

The cause of the accident is being investigated and clarified by functional agencies.

Bao Loc Pass on National Highway 20, connecting Da Huoai 2 commune and Bao Loc Ward 3. The pass is about 10 km long with many winding, dangerous curves, and accidents occur frequently. This is an important road connecting the Southeast provinces, Ho Chi Minh City with Lam Dong.
