On the afternoon of October 29, the Vietnamese futsal team had a friendly match against the Australian team in Thailand. This match is part of the preparation plan for the 2024 Southeast Asian futsal tournament, also taking place in Thailand.
The Australian team showed their physical superiority and aggressive playing style. However, under the direction of coach Diego Giustozzi, the Vietnamese team gradually took control of the game, adjusting their playing style to overcome their opponents. As a result, players Da Hai, Thinh Phat, Duc Hoa and Thai Huy (2 goals) scored, bringing a convincing 5-3 victory to the Vietnamese futsal team.
Previously, on October 27, the Vietnamese team defeated the reigning futsal champion Thailand, Hongyen Thakam, with a score of 6-4.
According to the schedule, the Vietnamese futsal team will start the Southeast Asian tournament on November 2 against Timor Leste.
The 2024 Southeast Asian Futsal Championship will take place from November 2 to November 10 in Thailand, with the participation of 9 teams and divided into 2 groups, of which Group A has 5 teams including: Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Brunei, Timor Leste. Group B has the participation of Indonesia, Myanmar, Australia and Cambodia.
The teams will compete in a round robin format to determine rankings in each group. The top two teams in each group will advance to the semi-finals.
