On October 17, the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) held the draw for the 2025 Asian Women's Futsal Championship qualifying round, with the participation of the Vietnamese women's futsal team.
According to the draw results, the Vietnamese women's futsal team (ranked 11th in the world) is in Group D with opponents Taiwan (China) (ranked 25th), Macau (China) (ranked 45th) and the host of this group is Myanmar (ranked 37th).
The 2024 Asian Women's Futsal Championship qualifiers feature 19 teams, divided into four groups. The teams will compete in a round-robin format to determine nine spots in the finals, along with three teams that will automatically qualify: host China, defending champions Iran, and defending runners-up Japan.
In the other group, Thailand will face Lebanon, Bahrain, Palestine, and Iraq in Group A. Group B includes Indonesia, Hong Kong (China), Pakistan, India, and Kyrgyzstan. Group C includes Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Australia, the Philippines, and Kuwait. The qualifying matches will take place from January 11 to 19, 2025.
The 2025 AFC Women's Futsal Championship will take place from May 7 to 18, 2025. The top three teams in this tournament will qualify for the 2025 Women's Futsal World Cup.
Before participating in the Asian qualifiers, the Vietnamese women's team will participate in the 2024 Southeast Asian women's futsal tournament in the Philippines in November.
