The Vietnam team is expected to increase 5 places in the FIFA rankings after 2 wins against Cambodia and Laos.

The Vietnam team ended the FIFA Days in March quite successfully with 2 victories against the Cambodia team (2-1) and the Laos team (5-20).

With this achievement, the Vietnam team is expected to increase 5 places on the FIFA rankings to be announced. The Vietnam team has accumulated a total of 8.81 points.

Of which, the victory over Laos brought home 6.09 points thanks to the high score coefficient of the qualifying matches, while the victory over Cambodia only added 2.72 points due to friendship.

Thanks to these achievements along with 10.22 points from the victory at the ASEAN Cup 2024 (championship with an unbeaten record of 7 wins and 1 draw), the Vietnam team has accumulated a total of 19.03 points since the beginning of the year, raising the total score to 1,183.82 points.

According to the forecast, in the FIFA rankings announced on April 3, the Vietnam team will increase from 114th to 109th in the world, marking a clear increase.

However, the real challenge will come in June, when the Vietnam team will face Malaysia in the second match of Group F of the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers.

Currently, the Vietnam team is leading the group after a big win over Laos, while Malaysia is in 2nd place with a 2-0 victory over Nepal. It is expected that in June, the Malaysian team will have an important addition, striker Bergson da Silva, a naturalized player of Brazilian origin.

In addition, in Group D of the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers, the Thai team only won a minimal 1-0 victory over Sri Lanka and may drop to 99th place in the FIFA rankings in April.

Meanwhile, the Indonesian team, after a 1-0 victory over Bahrain in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, has made strong progress, rising to 123rd place in the world.
