Vietnam team creates a highlight in the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers

NGUYỄN ĐĂNG |

The Vietnam team is one of the most impressive teams in the opening match, in the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers.

Nguyen Van Vi's double and goals from Hai Long, Quang Hai and Chau Ngoc Quang helped the Vietnamese team beat Laos 5-0. This result helped the Vietnamese team temporarily take the lead in Group F.

On an individual level, defender Nguyen Van Vi also had an excellent match with an impressive double goal. He scored more goals than other strikers.

In the remaining match of this group, Malaysia beat Nepal with a score of 2-0 at home.

The impressive form of Kim Sang-sik and his team has helped the team have an impressive start among the 24 teams participating in the final qualifying round of the 2027 Asian Cup.

The same 5-0 victory as the Vietnamese team was the Lebanese team, when this team defeated Brunei in Group B. Also in this group, the Bhutan team drew 0-0 with Yemen.

In Group A, Tajikistan beat Timor-Leste 1-0. Meanwhile, the Philippines beat Maldives 4-1 at home.

Group C is considered the most balanced group, as all 4 teams have quite similar strengths. The results of the opening match clearly reflect that when the two matches between Singapore and Hong Kong (China), India and Bangladesh all ended in a 0-0 draw.

In Group D, the Thai team had a hard-fought 1-0 home win over Sri Lanka. Meanwhile, Turkmenistan also had a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Taiwan (China).

In Group E, Myanmar came back to defeat Afghanistan 2-1. In the remaining match of the group, Syria beat Pakistan 2-0.

The final qualifying round of the 2027 Asian Cup will take place from March 25, 2025 to March 31, 2026, to select the last 6 spots to participate in the 2027 Asian Cup in Saudi Arabia.
