On the morning of July 10, the Team for Searching and Repatriating Martyrs' Remains (Ho Chi Minh City Command) continued to accelerate progress, expanding the excavation area at Le Thi Rieng Park. The urgent and responsible working spirit of the whole team brought unexpected results when in just one morning, more sets of remains and artifacts were found.

Present at the scene to inspect and direct the search, Major General Tran Chi Tam - Deputy Political Commissar of Military Region 7 said that forces from the Military Region, city to Team K74 are all deploying tasks with a high sense of responsibility.

In just this morning, the force made efforts to exhume 13 sets of remains. Directly going down to the dug pit with the brothers, witnessing the high sense of responsibility of everyone, my tears also fell," Major General Tran Chi Tam shared.

During the process of dissecting each layer of stratigraphy, functional forces discovered many invaluable memorabilia associated with the martyrs. Among them, especially a bottle of medicated oil, 2 gold rings and a pen still intact after nearly six decades lying under the wet soil.

According to Major General Tran Chi Tam, the martyrs have been lying here since 1968, for 58 years now, the degree of decomposition of each set of remains is different.
Especially the sets of remains that are not wrapped in military tanks are very easily decomposed. Even if it is determined that the bones have turned into soil, we must also cherish that piece of soil to best ensure the appraisal, identifying identities, and bringing the uncles and aunts back to their families," Major General Tran Chi Tam emphasized.

Regarding the excavation plan in the coming days, leaders of Military Region 7 said that when digging close to the lakeside inside the park, functional forces were forced to temporarily stop to prevent water from overflowing into the pit.
We will take the upper part first. After that, the construction force will block the water flow to continue exhuming the remains that are still deep inside. The whole team is determined to complete it as soon as possible but must be very scientific, tight, and absolutely not to miss martyrs' remains," Major General Tran Chi Tam added.
Previously, on the evening of July 9, the Ho Chi Minh City Command informed that on July 9, 16 sets of remains of martyrs were discovered in Le Thi Rieng Park.
